1980
Getting Started

Wellsford began in 1980 when Joe Pereni and Tony Testa transformed General Supply Company, a local hardware store, into a custom cabinet manufacturing facility. They saw the products and limitations of cabinetry and said, “We can do it better and offer more options.” And that’s exactly what they did, selling products through kitchen and bath dealerships from eastern Pennsylvania through New England.

1988
Setting A Standard

The successful business was interrupted, unfortunately, in 1988 when a late-night fire burned the building and its contents to the ground. Joe and Tony were soon back in operation in time for the residential building boom in the eastern Pennsylvania region. Wellsford’s name became associated with high-quality, reliable craftsmanship and innovative cabinetry that was “installer-friendly.”

1995
Expanding Our Leadership Team

Christina George joined Wellsford in 1995, first concentrating on bookkeeping, quickly evolving into order processing, CAD design, coordinating the installation process, and overseeing the manufacturing operations. Christina was integral in the implementation of the CNC equipment, edge bander, beam saw, and doweling machine, guiding setup and catalog development. The result of this work allowed Wellsford to offer frameless cabinetry construction. She has since become our director of operations, managing our human resources and technology needs.

1999
Continued Leadership Expansion

Greg Pereni had been part of the Wellsford family since a child. Joe Pereni, his father and owner, had Greg involved is every aspect of manufacturing from cutting, assembly, finishing, countertops, delivery and installation. He officially started working full time in 1999. His experience quickly evolved into sales, cabinet engineering, and design. Now he is the director of sales and design, focusing on new product innovations, manufacturing improvements and efficiencies, working closely with dealers to collaborate with order processing and the director of manufacturing to ensure excellence in customer service.

2005
Positioning For Growth

2005 was a landmark year for Wellsford; it was the year we moved into our current 40,000-square foot location. Our new facility allowed us to bring manufacturing, warehousing, a showroom, and office space into one building. A dedicated finishing room was installed with three finishing booths, an air make-up system, custom color lab, and drying room.

2008
Leveraging Technology

2008 saw renewed interest in frameless, full-access cabinet style. Wellsford was quick to respond, bringing in computerized saws and routers necessary for this type of cabinetry. Soon, this equipment was integrated into our framed cabinetry line with the ideal blend of old world hand-craftsmanship and new, highly accurate, time-saving computerized machinery.

Present
Today and Beyond

We are taking great strides to continue expanding our reach of dealer and partner relationships along the east coast. Our focus is on strong customer service and offering a product line that meets the ever-changing design trends. Ultimately, we look to do this while maintaining our core principle of building great cabinetry.
